Water Less - water and never drown your plants

Water-Less you:

• water your plants less often - only a couple of times a week, even with sandy soil in the heat of summer  
• never over water - 4 litres of water is held in reserve next to the plant roots and slowly released in perfect balance with the plants' roots 
• save up to 80% water versus other irrigation methods by getting water directly to plant roots instead of evaporating
• encourage healthy soil with healthier water - helps preserve beneficial soil microbes, even if you fill up your Water-Less with town-supply water. The slow release over days means that much of the harmful chlorine added to town water will have evaporated before it touches the soil.

What you get
This Water-Less model has a 4 litre capacity and is effective at watering plants within 15cm from the centre hole. This allows enough space for for 3-4 cucumbers or single-leader tomato plants per Water-Less.  

How it works

Once installed, simply fill it up and pop a pebble over the top opening to keep the mozzies out. The Water-Less slowly releases water through its porous shell to perfectly balance the moisture levels on the outside.

If your plants are less than 10cm tall, we recommend also watering the soil around the Water-Less until the roots have had time to find their new water source. 

How to install

1. Dig a hole in your desired location about a spade wide and 1-2 spades deep
2. Put your Water-Less in the hole to check that it's at the right height. You want the top to be just above your targeted finished ground level.  
3. Pack loam tightly around the outside of the Water-Less to about halfway up. Your fingers or a wooden broom .
4. Lift the Water-Less out to check that the soil is packed tightly around it.
5. Line the rest of the planting hole with Char Bro Ltd biochar, then fill the remainder with compost.
6. Plant into the compost and side dress with blood and bone or other gentle source of Nitrogen and Phosphorous
7. Apply straw, alfalfa, fern fronds or wool as mulch over the compost
8. Water the plants directly and fill the Water-Less. If your plants are less than 10cm tall, we recommend also watering the soil around the Water-Less until the roots have had time to find their new water source. 
9. Monitor water-fill levels with a stick and refill as needed
